Gravestone Inscriptions

Copies of the inscriptions on gravestones often give more information than can be found in burial registers. They sometimes expand on the circumstances or cause of a death and often give details of  other
family members.
Researching  for the details of my Great Great  Grandfathers' death and with a reference from St Catherine's Indexes for June 1850 , I searched the Burial Records for the Necropolis Cemetery, Low Hill, West Derby Road, Liverpool 1825-1898. I was able to locate his burial record and the Grave number  6218.
With this information I then searched the Grave Inscriptions for the Necropolis Cemetery and the recorded information for Grave No. 6218. When I located the appropriate record I was able to find details of no less than 10 other family members in my Family Tree.
The picture bottom left, of the Grave Inscription, illustrates the amount of  additional information I obtained, when I was only
searching  for 1 record, that of my Great Great Grandfathers' burial.
I have now obtained additional  information for those ancestors as a
result of  the information recorded  for that Gravestone.
